CLASSICAL RICK v. THE REPUBLIC OF KRAMERIA

Argued March 2026 Decided March 28, 2026

On March 4, 2026, Congress enacted the National Firearm Control and Public Safety Act, which establishes a national licensing system requiring all individuals to obtain government approval before possessing or using a firearm, with licenses expiring every four weeks. Rick argued that the Act was unconstitutional because the no clause of the Constitution grants power to the federal government to regulate firearms. The Republic failed to respond, and the Court granted summary judgment. A majority of Justices agreed that the Act was unconstitutional, but could not agree on a rationale as to why, and thus the plurality opinion was issued with a narrow scope applying only to this act and did not set any obvious precedent. Two Justices dissented.

Held:

  1. The National Firearm Control and Public Safety Act is declared unconstitutional and without legal effect.
  2. Enforcement of the Act is permanently enjoined, and all actions taken pursuant to it are null and void. </aside>
