SECTION I. SHORT TITLE
This act may be cited as the “Federal Senate Act”.
SECTION II. FINDINGS
The Arcadian Senate finds:
- The 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the Republic of Krameria, section II. paragraph e. states that “The number of seats in the Senate shall be equal to the number of states. The several states shall each elect one seat in the Senate for terms of three weeks. The legislature of each State shall after the passage of this amendment designate the beginning of the terms of its Senators, with such only being alterable by an absolute majority in a referendum within the state.”
- There is no specific process to which Federal Senators representing the Commonwealth of Arcadia are chosen.
- Therefore, there exists a necessity for the Commonwealth of Arcadia to establish for itself a system to elect Federal Senators to the Kramerian Senate.
SECTION III. DEFINITIONS
- “Senate” refers to the Senate of the Commonwealth of Arcadia.
- “Federal Senate” refers to the Senate of the Republic of Krameria.
- “Senator” refers to a member of the Senate of the Commonwealth of Arcadia.
- “Federal Senator” refers to a member of the Senate of the Republic of Krameria representing the Commonwealth of Arcadia.
- “Governor” refers to the Governor of the Commonwealth of Arcadia.
SECTION IV. PROVISIONS
- The Governor shall nominate candidates for the office of Federal Senator from amongst citizens of the Commonwealth of Arcadia.
- Each candidate for the office of Federal Senator shall go through a hearing by the Senate.
- The hearing period shall last 24 hours.
- By the end of the hearing period, all candidates shall be voted upon by the Senate by way of the alternative vote.
- Members of the Federal Senate shall serve a term of 2 weeks.
- Upon the removal of a Federal Senator, the process previously described shall take place forthwith.
