1. The KBI shall enforce all federal statutes and safeguard the national security of the Republic.
2. The KBI shall investigate:
   1. Any violation of federal law;
   2. Any violation of local or federal law where state or national lines are crossed;
   3. Any violation of law where Federal Officials are implicated;
   4. Any violation of law where Federal Officials are targeted;
   5. Any violation of law where State Officials are implicated;
   6. Any violation of federal or local law in Kramerian overseas territories where the local law enforcement either does not exist, does not have the capability to investigate, or requests assistance;
   7. Any violation of local or federal law where local law enforcement requests assistance;
   8. Any violation of local or federal law concerning national security
   9. Violations of local or federal law aboard Air, Naval or Land vessels or vehicles, where national or state lines are crossed;
   10. Violations of local or federal law on Interstate highways or railroads, and metro lines;
   11. Violations of local or federal narcotics, firearms, explosives, arson and alcohol laws where the violations are of an interstate nature or when requested by local law enforcement.
3. The KBI shall also:
   1. Apprehend federal fugitives;
   2. Assist in apprehending local or state fugitives when requested by local law enforcement; and
   3. Protect federal civil rights.
   4. Apply for and execute federal warrants;
   5. Arrest individuals suspected of federal crimes;
   6. Detain individuals in accordance with federal detention limits;
   7. Seize evidence and property connected to federal offenses;
   8. Conduct lawful surveillance pursuant to judicial authorization;
   9. Compel testimony or documents where authorized by law;
   10. Maintain and regulate all Federal penal and correctional institutions, including but not limited to prisons;
   11. Provide suitable quarters and provide for the safekeeping, care, and subsistence of all persons charged with or convicted of offenses against the Republic, or held in prison as witnesses or otherwise;
   12. Provide for the protection, instruction, and discipline of all persons charged with or convicted of offenses against the Republic;
   13. Provide technical assistance to State and local governments in the improvement of their correctional systems;
   14. Maintain a national network for a most wanted list, crime alerts and other information or alerts;
   15. Provide for the security and to obey, execute, and enforce all orders of any Federal Court; and
   16. Coordinate with regional authorities where necessary.
