The OLS shall be responsible for providing support to Congress, including but not limited to:

1. General research to allow Congress to make decisions after consideration of any relevant information;
2. Analysis, appraisal, and evaluation of legislative proposals to assist Congress in its determination of the advisability of such proposals;
3. Collection, classification, and analysis in the form of studies, reports, compilations, digests, bulletins, indexes, translations, and otherwise, data having a bearing on legislation, and to make such data available and serviceable to Congress;
4. Preparation and provision of information, research, and reference materials and services to Congress to assist it in its functions.
